Jessica Mah and Justin Caldbeck in Legal Crossfire Over Startup Fallout

In May 2025, Jessica Mah, founder of inDinero and Mahway, filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against venture capitalist Justin Caldbeck, alleging sexual harassment, defamation, and retaliation. Mah claims Caldbeck’s behavior damaged her reputation and interfered with her business.

In response, two former Mahway executives and Caldbeck’s firm filed separate lawsuits accusing Mah of:
Misusing company funds (e.g., private jets, personal expenses)

  • Harassment and discrimination
  • Wrongful termination
  • Breach of fiduciary duty

They argue Mah created a hostile work environment and damaged their reputations through public allegations.

The legal battle centers on startup governance, founder conduct, and #MeToo-era reputational risks. No criminal charges have been filed, and all cases are in early stages, with motions scheduled for August.

This dispute may set new precedents around personal misconduct, executive power, and financial transparency in privately funded startups.
